The creator of the Dobos cake was the famous pastry-cook of Pest, József Dobos C., who demonstrated the cake to the public in 1885. Some of the first ones to taste it were Queen Elizabeth and Emperor Franz Joseph. Butter sponge cake layers with streams of cooked chocolate and butter cream in between; the top is a roasted sugar plate spread on a sponge cake layer.
